The real idea for CakeUp emerged much later, during my thesis work. While I was deep into research for my degree, I began to seriously think about turning my love for baking into something bigger. That’s when I decided to register the business but instead of rushing into it, I took my time. I focused on market research, studying trends, customer preferences, and the competition to understand where my cakes could stand out.

Those early steps shaped everything. I learned the importance of blending quality ingredients with creative presentation, and I began forming the identity of what CakeUp would become.

One of the proudest moments of this journey was being invited , with the support and encouragement of my supervisor ‘Svetlana Drevskih‘ to speak at the Zealand Institute of Business and Technology in front of more than 25 entrepreneurship students and two professors. I shared my story — from baking as a hobby to building a business, the challenges I faced, and where I’m headed next. I brought a cake for everyone to taste, and the feedback from both teachers and students was incredibly encouraging. Many connected with me afterward, asking for tips and advice, which reminded me why I started this in the first place.
